Rex Ryan Makes Me Want to Root for the Jets

It's 2008. Gibbs retires. The Redskins need a head coach. After going through countless of candidates, we go with Jim Zorn. He had ZERO coaching experience. Not even one year of being an offensive coordinator. We settle with Zorn and after a half year of positive results, it goes to shit as the team unravels with a lack of discipline, talent and eventually becomes an overall embarrassment. One coach who we didn't not interview was Rex Ryan. His defense was a monster in Baltimore. He was around football all his life with his dad Buddy Ryan leading the way. At the time, the Skins defense was good but the Danny wanted more offense. It's too bad because with his hire of an "offensive guy" he sacrificed discipline, swagger, bravado and charisma. The "intangibles" of being a head coach. You can be a great X and O's guy but if you don't have the belief of the team, you already have lost. (See Lions, Detroit game last year). Look at this clip from yesterday's show. To put it in Rex's terms, I'd run through a fucking brick wall for that guy.

Note: I still love the Skins and am glad we hired Shanahan.
