Madrid Beats Barcelona in Copa Del Rey Final, Drops Trophy

Dreamy Cristiano Ronaldo headed home a game winning goal in extra time to beat El Clasico rivals Barcelona.

Late into the night, Madrid had a parade to celebrate. Sergio Ramos held the trophy over his head on a parade bus when all of a sudden he drops the trophy and subsequently gets run over by the bus. Dagger.

Portland Timbers Had an Impressive Debut

First their fans, the Timbers Army, sang the National Anthem on their own which was pretty cool.

Then their mascot, Timber Joey, is a real badass lumberjack. Every time the Timbers score, Timber Joey cuts a wood chip off a huge log slab from his massive chainsaw. The wood chips get passed around the stands and are eventually given to the goal score.

Who said soccer wouldn't catch on in the States? Obviously all those Portland hippies would embrace it.

It's Hard Not to Cheer For Charlie Davies

Charlie Davies was suppose to be our other striker for the US Mens National Team in the World Cup when he was a passenger in a car accident that nearly killed him. After a year of rehabbing and recovering from a lacerated bladder, fractured right tibia and femur, a fractured elbow, facial injuries, and bleeding on the brain, he is in DC playing for DC United on a loan from his French club team Sochaux. His debut last was last weekend in which he scored 2 goals and combined them with a celebrations called the Cat Daddy and the infamous Stanky Leg. Black Healing Power at its finest.

Russia/Qatar to Host World Cup in 2018/2022

Consider me officially disappointed. I was looking forward to a sweet trip to England or Spain/Portugal in 2018 and the US hosting in 2022. But FIFA went with Russia and Qatar receptively. I am shocked about both, feel bad for England who really had their heart set on 2018 and thought they deserved it. It's the motherland of soccer.

As for the US, disappointing but life goes on. Sure they were the practical choice but since when is FIFA practical. FIFA is now going with 4 straight risky countries in a row (South Africa/Brazil/Russia/Qatar), but South Africa proved that it can be done. Even though they had a tough time filling in the stadium and ended up with an overall financial loss, the pageantry of having Africa host the beautiful game for the first time was too much for FIFA not to overlook, thus having first time hosts Russia and Qatar winning the bids. FIFA president Sepp Blatter always wanted to bring soccer to the "Arab World" and he got his wish. Definitely a man about legacy and is fulfilling it with Africa and now the Middle East.

As for the US, they go back to square one, losing the Olympic Chicago bid to Rio in 2016 and now the WC in 2022. They have 2026 and I think they are the early favorites to host now that China is no longer eligible to host because Qatar is considered in the Asian conference in soccer.

And who knows. I'm planning on going to Brazil in 2014 and maybe Russia/Qatar would be a cool place to go to. We'll see.

Here's a preview of the first five Qatar stadiums that will be built for 2022.

So Painful to Watch...the Worst Soccer Interview of All Time

Thierry Henry, one of the greatest soccer players of all time has left Europe to come to America and play in New York. He was interviewed by these two clowns from Fox 5 NY who obviously didn't conduct ANY research before this interview. It was an awkward train wreck from the beginning. Literally, the first statement the woman makes is telling Henry that he had just won the World Cup. I'm not sure what was worse, telling him he had just won the World Cup after France was ridiculed for being, well France, or asking when the season starts even though the team he's joining are in the middle of their season. They also go on to ask him how he's going to promote soccer here in the States, if he came here because Europe was too racist and made fun of how soccer doesn't score enough. The interview was so awkward and unprofessional, nevertheless Henry remains composed and calm answering these dumbass questions. These two clowns are the worst. I know soccer is not big here like it is overseas, but show the man some respect with some research and some intelligent questions. I mean, he is one of the best to play the game.

The World is About to Get Messi'd

It was another lazy Sunday at the Castro. 3 out of 4 were hungover and one is a gimp so we all watched Barcelona vs. some other team that got relegated. Barcelona clinched another La Liga Championship with a 4-0 win and Lionel Messi scored twice. With the World Cup 25 days away, here's a little preview with all of Messi's 47 goals in La Liga this year. Something to look forward to this upcoming June.

World Cup Exactly One Month Away

The world's biggest sporting event is back in a month and I'm excited. The enthusiasm of the players, countries and fans, the talent of the players and the talent of the ladies. Just awesome. It also takes away that summer lull in sports before futbol americano starts. I can only handle baseball for so long (call me when it's September, MLB). Anyways here's a quick preview with the top 100 footballer's WAGs (wifes and girlfriends) and a couple vids of the top 50 best world cup goals ever and the best goals in 2006 in Germany. Enjoy the beautiful game. Joga Bonito!

Franck Ribery and His Underage Prostitute

French footballer Franck Ribery, 27 was recently discovered to have relationships with Zahia Dehar, a teenage prostitute in France. She was actually accused of sleeping with at least three French footballers by declaring she "loved them all." She said she has also been with French footballers Karim Benzema, 22, and Sidney Govou, 30, and they all treated her "with utter respect." I guess "utter respect" means getting paid up to 20,000 euro a month. Prostitution is legal in France but the age of consent is 18. Ribery faces a maximum of three years in prison and up to a 40 k euro fine.

Ribery and others deny that they didn't know she was underage even thought he Mirror News reports that Dehar celebrated her 18th birthday last February. She also had her clients fly her to destinations like Dubai, staying in five star hotels and word is she may have other ties to English clubs.

Ah mistresses and athletes, where have we seen this before? The funny thing here is that the French are more concerned about Ribery not being able to play in the World Cup then his actual morals. Ah, you got to love the culture of the beautiful game. Just win baby.

Derek Jeter vs. Cristiano Ronaldo

There were recent rumors that Cristiano Ronaldo came into the US, took Kim K against her will, and brought her out to Spain. Ok I made up the unwillingly part, but Ronaldo should stick to Europe and not come over here and take our attractive women. Then I saw his resume. Very impressive. The only athlete I could think of that could compete with him (besides Big Ben) is Derek Jeter. I am a Yankee Hater, but his resume is quite impressive as well.

So Derek Jeter or Cristiano Ronaldo....who you got?
